CBD Oil and Sleep in the Age of Coronavirus

CBD Oil and Sleep in the Age of Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has affected all of us in a number of different ways this year.

Whether you’re looking at it from the perspective of physical health, mental health, or financial wellbeing, it’s been tricky to cope with the pandemic. Being in lockdown and not working has put a strain on the community. The same can be said for the new, intense working conditions for key workers and healthcare professionals.

One of the less publicized areas of life that the coronavirus pandemic has affected the most is sleep. Countless people all around the world are dealing with insomnia, nightmares, and anxiety as a result of these strange times. As noted in this report by Express Scripts, more people now than ever all around America are using medication to help with anxiety and sleep.

It’s easy to see why the pandemic is causing such a strain on people’s mental health and sleep patterns, of course. We’ve all been thrust into uncertain, unfamiliar circumstances and are having to completely readjust our daily routines. It can be hard to get to sleep at the best of times, and 2020 is making it even more difficult.

However difficult it might be, though, it is absolutely vital to try and get great quality sleep wherever possible. This article by Dreams sums it up perfectly- a good night’s sleep can help people to feel better physically and emotionally. It’s one of the best ways to help keep stress levels down, and to prepare for a busy day.

This is easier said than done, of course. You can’t simply ‘get rid’ of anxiety or stress in a night, and it’s worth emphasizing that feeling worried about the pandemic is very normal. Simply dropping off to sleep can be a difficult feat as well for many of us around the world right now.

So what can you do to help yourself sleep better right now?

One of the main things that people are starting to turn to for sleep problems is CBD. As many people reading this will know, CBD products have shot to popularity in the last few years. It’s hard to go online now without seeing a beauty company, fitness influencer, or social media guru promoting the latest CBD goodies for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re unfamiliar with CBD, it’s a natural compound extracted from the cannabis plant. CBD is short for cannabidiol, and it does not contain any of the psychoactive elements that cannabis normally does. CBD is very calming for a lot of people and is used by many people all around the world to help with everything from mental health issues to chronic pain.

Many people nowadays are finding that it can be used effectively for sleep, which is brilliant. As we noted earlier, the coronavirus pandemic is causing a lot of anxiety and stress for people. CBD products are great for calming the mind and reducing stress levels, which can, in turn, lead to a better quality of sleep.

Something else that’s great about CBD products is that they do not usually contain THC. THC is the element in cannabis that people typically associate with anxiety or paranoia. The lack of this element in CBD is one of the reasons why so many people find it calming to use.

If you’re somebody that’s struggling with sleep right now, know that you are not alone and that there are natural, organic products available that can help to make your nights easier. If you’ve never tried CBD before, we’d recommend looking into oils and tinctures for night time usage- take a look at our article on the top CBD oils in 2020 here for some inspiration.

Do make sure to verify the supplier before purchasing, and to make sure that CBD will not interfere with any existing medications or health conditions that you might have. More research still needs to be done in the field of CBD, and we’d recommend doing your own before using it.
